Here is another quick tip on how you can come back later and edit an old post to the blog. You will notice that I have edited out some of the previous post while changing some and leaving some untouched. That's what the edit symbols means.
I thought for sure that my takeoff on politics would cause some of the classmates to come back with either support or challenges. Instead, the political comment got ignored. Maybe everyone likes the idea of an HMO telling a doctor how much time he should visit with a patient based on the covered illness involved. If the HMO says they will pay for 15 mins and the doctor needs more time to listen to you and live up to his oath, he still gets paid for only 15 mins by the HMO.
Now that most of the classmates are retired and living the good life that they dreamed about, no one is concerned about the never-ending squeezing of workers to get more done with the same amount of pay (which with inflation, amounts to less pay). That is, until you require some service from a worker who is one of the lucky few left to serve a growing customer base where there used to be 4, 6, or even 10 co-workers.
And, I guess I'm the only motorhome owner who has calculated that less than 2 years ago, getting 4 miles to the gallon of gas is now equal to getting 2 miles per gallon (for the same costs).
Betty Taylor asked if I was secretly working for Ralph Nader. No, Betty, I'm just thinking out loud how desperately those who will come after me, or who have less than I do, will struggle to survive.
Well, that's it for now. If you want to poke holes in my reasoning, or agree with me, have at it. If you're not yet able to post a response to the blog because you haven't accepted an invitation, write me and I will help you get signed up so you can yap, yap, yap, back.
